Lady Gaga urges Malaysian people to protest censorship of her pro-gay song

Lady Gaga is calling for young people in Malaysia to protest “peaceably” against the decision to censor pro-gay lyrics in her hit Born This Way by local radio stations.

Some of the song’s lyrics were replaced with garble to avoid contravening strict laws on morality.

The contentious lyrics are: “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track, baby.”

Lady Gaga said in an interview at the headquarters of Google in California: “What I would say is for all the young people in Malaysia that want those words to be played on the radio, it is your job and it is your duty as young people to have your voices heard.

“You must do everything that you can if you want to be liberated by your society. You must call, you must not stop, you must protest peaceably.”
